The long-term impact of lockdowns will be with us for a considerable time and the recent Lib Dem Council proposal to consider closing our schools for one day a week has triggered a huge response in our inbox. While Powys residents in many areas struggle with poor internet connectivity, remote lessons don’t work for all households.
School budgets in Powys are already stretched from ever increasing demands from the Welsh Government, Children in Wales from poorer backgrounds are now up to two years behind their peers in England. Our schools must remain open.
It is incredibly disappointing that the Welsh Government are pushing ahead with their consultation on a tourism Levy. already facing cost of living challenges, huigher utilty bills, staff shortages and higher business rates than in other parts of the UK we urge you all to take part in the consultation process.

We are both incredibly proud to represent Brecon and Radnorshire and as well as celebrating #BackBritishFarmingDay in November, December 3rd will see us join businesses across the constituency marking #SmallBusinessSaturday. Both days are a huge reminder to us all to shop and support local!
We both continue to monitor events regarding the closure of Air Ambulance in Welshpool. All responses from our survey and emails we have received will be shared with Air Ambulance and our colleagues Craig Williams and Russell George who lead the campaign in Montgomeryshire.
Recent flash flooding in the constituency have highlighted once more problem areas which repeatedly flood. We will liaise with flood groups and the Council to ensure these areas have priority repairs so please let us know if you have any concerns.
In the meantime, if we can help in anyway please do not hesitate to get in touch.
