After weeks of delivering leaflets, and then eventually being able to speak to people on the doorstep, I am overjoyed that James Evans has been elected as our new Senedd Member. James will be a strong voice for us and I am thrilled we will be working together. Finally, Brecon and Radnorshire (and indeed, all of Powys) has a united team.
More good news came this week when it was confirmed that Theatr Brycheiniog will play a key role in reopening the arts and cultural sector. 250 attendees will join a family performance in early June as a test event. The performing arts is one of the industries which has suffered the most from the pandemic and so I really do hope it goes off brilliantly and everyone has a fantastic time.
Last week I visited Pontsioni House, Aberedw who have opened their beautiful gardens as part of the National Garden Scheme. The scheme raises funds for nursing and health care charities through donations from visits to people who have opened their gardens. To find more gardens in Powys please visit www.ngs.org.uk.
In between the campaign madness, I also visited the orchards at Trevithel Court Farm. Sadly an enormous amount of cider apples went to waste when the pubs closed. The owners talked me through some of the red tape which is holding the industry back so I’m going to be looking at this more closely. However, do look out for Trevithel Court’s guided tours during next year’s Hay Festival. With the apple trees in blossom, it was a fascinating and beautiful visit.
As ever, I would be delighted to help you with anything you might need. Please get in touch if there is anything I can do.
