Following on from James Evans MS recent debate in the Senedd about rural transport, James has followed this up with a meeting with Transport for Wales and Network Rail in Llandrindod Wells. This meeting was arranged to ensure that the Heart of Wales Line which runs through his constituency of Brecon and Radnorshire is maintained effectively.
Rural transport is vitally important for many people across Brecon and Radnorshire, especially those who are in more vulnerable categories and those who don’t have access to their own vehicle.
James Evans MS said:
“Meeting with officials from Transport for Wales and Network Rail recently was an important meeting in order for myself to hear the plans they have for this line and for its upkeep. I saw first-hand the important work the maintenance engineers do to keep our rural railways running.
In a recent Senedd debate I held, we focused on improving rural transport access across Mid Wales was supported by parties across the floor who acknowledge the need to improve access to services and quality of services.
I was pleased that officials from Transport for Wales and Network Rail understand the need to keep services regular and efficient for the people of Brecon and Radnorshire.
I plan on meeting with bus service providers in the coming weeks to see the role they play and what can be done to improve services for local bus users.”
