I am writing having just watched the first episode of A Year In the Beacons. In a year when I have not been able to get out and about the constituency as much as I would have liked, it was a reminder how hard those living in our rural areas work, the traditions continued and the highs and lows of life in the Beacons. If you missed it, you can catch it on ITV Hub.
Today is also International Womens day and this gives me the opportunity to thank the incredible women across Brecon and Radnorshire. Without the help of women, from healthcare heroes and teachers, to community champions and carers, fighting coronavirus would not have been possible and I thank you all.
I was thrilled to hear that Powys had reached the milestone of vaccinating 50,000 residents and once again thank everyone involved. I will continue to work closely with Powys Teaching Health Board to monitor the rollout and resolve any issues constituents are facing. With schools now reopening, and the Easter holidays approaching please continue to follow government guidelines.
I continue meetings over concerns about the condition of the River Wye. This week I met with the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Minister for Environment, Rebecca Pow, Jesse Norman MP and Bill Wiggin MP. It is deeply unfair that our farmers are being penalised with a blanket Nitrate Vulnerable Zone policy by Welsh Government when there are so many other factors to the conditions of our rivers.
My inbox is always open, please do get in touch If I can help.
